About the conference
Generative AI has entered everyday scientific practice. Researchers use it for literature searches, data analysis, writing and even peer review. Used without an understanding of its limits and biases, it carries risks. In the Netherlands, a group of scientists has already called for a halt to the uncritical adoption of AI in academia, pointing to the risks for critical thinking and intellectual autonomy.
Virtues are beneficial traits of individuals and groups. The use of generative AI can challenge the virtues of the scientific community. This conference asks how virtues such as curiosity and intellectual justice can be preserved as AI becomes part of scientific work.
Program
The two days include keynote talks, motivational talks, workshops and panel discussions, with perspectives from academia, research and policy. Coffee breaks leave time for networking. Lunch is included on both days.
